Join SPARK Business Academy at Parks and Recreation on select half days for Region 15 Elementary schools! Please register for the program according to your child's current school enrollment. Program runs from 1:00pm-4:00pm
Students from all Region 15 elementary schools are welcome to join us for an afternoon of enrichment and innovation! Transportation will be provided from PES, GES, and LMES to the Parks and Recreation building. Upon registration, parents will sign digitally giving permission for Parks and Rec staff to pick up at dismissal and walk or bus participants to our building. Special Thanks to our Senior Center for providing the white bus and driver!
Students from Middlebury Elementary School are welcome to join, however parents must provide their own transportation to the Parks and Rec building.
The Half Day Adventure will run until 4:00pm - Please pack an afternoon snack and water bottle. If a Child Program Form has been completed previously, please confirm all information is correct.
The program will take place at the Southbury Parks & Recreation building, 561 Main Street South.

Wednesday, March 4th - Theme is Pet Biz
In this empowering program, young entrepreneurs apply their personal skills and interests toward being a Pet Business entrepreneur! Students will brainstorm various pet businesses and develop products and services for their own mock pet business. Entrepreneurs will also practice animal care and customer service skills and learn to create appealing marketing, advertising and displays. Other related topics will be discussed such as counting currency, profit margins, buying and selling and assessing the quality of goods.

Let's get crafty! Young entrepreneurs will create handmade items to "sell" to other "vendors" at their very own craft fair! In this program, students will learn about craft fairs and the ingenuity and creativity of the small business entrepreneur. They will produce goods and learn to create appealing advertising and displays. Other related topics will be discussed such as counting currency, budgeting, profit margins, buying and selling and assessing the quality of goods.
Wednesday, April 29th - Theme is Young Inventors
In this “inventive” program, students design and create solutions to problems, teaming up to identify the need for a new invention, and producing real structures and solutions. In one STEM challenge, students build bridges using a variety of material and experiment with how much weight they can hold. Students will also learn about famous inventors and discuss how inventions improve our lives.
PES, GES, and LMES families must complete Region 15's online "School Dismissal Manager" assigning Early Dismissal to Park and Rec as the choice for your student the day of the program.
