The Parks & Rec Clubhouse provides a space to meet and make new friends through specialized activities for various ages. Participate in different & unique activities while our staff helps guide you through your adventures. And the best part is that we clean up the mess!Our activities range from seasonal activities, science/learning activities, sensory learning and other messy crafts & activities!Eastern Indigo HangoutMeet Maleficent, the stunning and endangered Eastern Indigo. She is one of the most intelligent species of snakes, is non-venomous, and is very sweet and docile. Participants will get to learn about her unique ecosystem, discover what makes her species endangered, make their own arts project to take home, and even get the chance to hold/interact with Maleficent. Maleficent has a special surprise to show the class, too! Upon arrival at the program, participants must wash their hands.Gingerbread Plushy Ornament Sew your own mini plushy ornament to hang on a tree, car, or somewhere in your house. Our team will combine and melt ingredients, then work with you to pick scents out and assist with pouring the mixture into its tube. You will make your own wreath, which will look like a flower, to take home and have for the first day of spring the next day. Participants will decorate a safari hat, go on a safari scavenger hunt, and make an animal scene with foil stickers. Each participant will get their own safari activity booklet to take home to continue the fun with the family. Dungeons and Dragons Multi-Generational Adventures: Join Parks and Recreation Clubhouse for our Dungeons and Dragons Adventures!We will provide the space - you provide the adventure! Southbury Parks and Recreation will provide game supplies, tables, and chairs. Groups are responsible for running their own games. If you are hoping to play with more participants, please invite your friends to sign up and join us! Minors must be accompanied by an adult, staff will check you in but will not run programming. 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM    Cheerleading Rochambeau Rebels: Grades K-8 - Half Year Competition Cheerleading
The Rochambeau Rebels are dedicated to providing an affordable competitive cheerleading program to area youth. This program provides a balanced and sustainable approach to youth cheerleading recognizing the needs of the athletes and their families. They are committed to excellence, creativity, and integrity that goes beyond the cheer mat. The Rochambeau Rebels season will run from August through March. The Rebels will practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Southbury Parks and Recreation. Each practice will be 1.5 hours long. The younger squad will practice from 5:30pm- 7:00pm, and the older squad practice time will be 7:00pm-8:30pm. Age group split depends on registered participants. There will be no practices on weekends and no mandatory parent volunteer hours. The Rebels will not do regular sideline cheering for any sport. Competitive cheer skill building will be the only focus.All registered athletes will need to buy their own cheerleading sneakers for competitions. Any cheer shoes can be used for practices. At the Grow Together Play Club, unstructured time proves to be a powerful engine for development. When kids play freely, they're building essential life skills. Mixed-age environments naturally encourage social growth, teaching kids cooperation, empathy, and leadership as older children mentor younger ones. Self-directed activities sharpen problem-solving and critical thinking while boosting creativity and imagination. Crucially, it develops the independence to make decisions and learn emotional regulation in a low-stress setting. Ultimately, "just playing" is how your children learn to be resilient, confident, and successful friends.Please sign up for the mailing list for direct information about all upcoming programs. As information becomes available, register for activities you are interested in joining. 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM    Retro Play Pop-up: Ages 4-8 - Retro Play Pop-up
This program invites children to follow their joy - to tinker, build, story-tell, discover and re-imagine. Thoughtfully curated open ended materials are brought to the play space by our instructor Gina who has 17 years of experience in early childhood education and play based learning. With the use of familiar and unfamiliar treasures, participants make their learning visible through a fluid play experience with creation at the hub. This child led approach allows for greater engagement, self advocacy and self awareness, and builds peer to peer collaboration & connection. Retro Play is an organic way to cultivate children’s emotional and cognitive flexibility. It allows for children's complex thinking to be visible and jubilant. Class incorporates lessons in literacy with books and poems related to tinkering and building. 4:30 PM - 5:15 PM    Shooting Stars: Preschool Basketball - Fall Clinic
Give your child a head start in developing essential coordination and footwork skills through basketball! Back by popular demand, this class has been revamped by Varsity Head Boys Basketball Coach for Pomeraug High School, Shawn Mobilio, and designed for children ages 3-5. Through fun, structured activities, your child will learn to improve their footwork, agility, and hand-eye coordination while exploring the basics of basketball, such as dribbling and passing. With drills tailored to their developmental level, your child will boost their confidence and physical skills in a supportive, playful environment with an emphasis on movement and balance. 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM    Cheerleading Rochambeau Rebels: Grades K-8 - Half Year Competition Cheerleading
The Rochambeau Rebels are dedicated to providing an affordable competitive cheerleading program to area youth. This program provides a balanced and sustainable approach to youth cheerleading recognizing the needs of the athletes and their families. They are committed to excellence, creativity, and integrity that goes beyond the cheer mat. The Rochambeau Rebels season will run from August through March. The Rebels will practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Southbury Parks and Recreation. Each practice will be 1.5 hours long. The younger squad will practice from 5:30pm- 7:00pm, and the older squad practice time will be 7:00pm-8:30pm. Age group split depends on registered participants. There will be no practices on weekends and no mandatory parent volunteer hours. The Rebels will not do regular sideline cheering for any sport. Competitive cheer skill building will be the only focus.All registered athletes will need to buy their own cheerleading sneakers for competitions. Any cheer shoes can be used for practices. Self-directed activities sharpen problem-solving and critical thinking while boosting creativity and imagination. Crucially, it develops the independence to make decisions and learn emotional regulation in a low-stress setting. And the best part is that we clean up the mess!Our activities range from seasonal activities, science/learning activities, sensory learning and other messy crafts & activities!Eastern Indigo HangoutMeet Maleficent, the stunning and endangered Eastern Indigo. She is one of the most intelligent species of snakes, is non-venomous, and is very sweet and docile. Participants will get to learn about her unique ecosystem, discover what makes her species endangered, make their own arts project to take home, and even get the chance to hold/interact with Maleficent. Maleficent has a special surprise to show the class, too! Upon arrival at the program, participants must wash their hands.Gingerbread Plushy Ornament Sew your own mini plushy ornament to hang on a tree, car, or somewhere in your house. 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM    Cheerleading Rochambeau Rebels: Grades K-8 - Half Year Competition Cheerleading
The Rochambeau Rebels are dedicated to providing an affordable competitive cheerleading program to area youth. This program provides a balanced and sustainable approach to youth cheerleading recognizing the needs of the athletes and their families. They are committed to excellence, creativity, and integrity that goes beyond the cheer mat. The Rochambeau Rebels season will run from August through March. The Rebels will practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Southbury Parks and Recreation. Each practice will be 1.5 hours long. The younger squad will practice from 5:30pm- 7:00pm, and the older squad practice time will be 7:00pm-8:30pm. Age group split depends on registered participants. There will be no practices on weekends and no mandatory parent volunteer hours. The Rebels will not do regular sideline cheering for any sport. Competitive cheer skill building will be the only focus.All registered athletes will need to buy their own cheerleading sneakers for competitions. Any cheer shoes can be used for practices. We are happy to be expanding our Holiday Festivities to span the whole season! From Luminary Decorating to Gift Wrapping, there is a program for everyone. All goods will be donated to the Southbury Food bank. And the best part is that we clean up the mess!Our activities range from seasonal activities, science/learning activities, sensory learning and other messy crafts & activities!Eastern Indigo HangoutMeet Maleficent, the stunning and endangered Eastern Indigo. She is one of the most intelligent species of snakes, is non-venomous, and is very sweet and docile. Participants will get to learn about her unique ecosystem, discover what makes her species endangered, make their own arts project to take home, and even get the chance to hold/interact with Maleficent. Maleficent has a special surprise to show the class, too! Upon arrival at the program, participants must wash their hands.Gingerbread Plushy Ornament Sew your own mini plushy ornament to hang on a tree, car, or somewhere in your house. Our team will combine and melt ingredients, then work with you to pick scents out and assist with pouring the mixture into its tube. Participants will decorate a safari hat, go on a safari scavenger hunt, and make an animal scene with foil stickers. We are happy to be expanding our Holiday Festivities to span the whole season! From Luminary Decorating to Gift Wrapping, there is a program for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the main event: Our 26th Annual Holiday Celebration and Illumination Ceremony! We will be collecting non-perishable foods all season in our building. All goods will be donated to the Southbury Food bank. 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM    Cheerleading Rochambeau Rebels: Grades K-8 - Half Year Competition Cheerleading
The Rochambeau Rebels are dedicated to providing an affordable competitive cheerleading program to area youth. This program provides a balanced and sustainable approach to youth cheerleading recognizing the needs of the athletes and their families. They are committed to excellence, creativity, and integrity that goes beyond the cheer mat. The Rochambeau Rebels season will run from August through March. The Rebels will practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Southbury Parks and Recreation. Each practice will be 1.5 hours long. The younger squad will practice from 5:30pm- 7:00pm, and the older squad practice time will be 7:00pm-8:30pm. Age group split depends on registered participants. There will be no practices on weekends and no mandatory parent volunteer hours. The Rebels will not do regular sideline cheering for any sport. Competitive cheer skill building will be the only focus.All registered athletes will need to buy their own cheerleading sneakers for competitions. Any cheer shoes can be used for practices. And the best part is that we clean up the mess!Our activities range from seasonal activities, science/learning activities, sensory learning and other messy crafts & activities!Eastern Indigo HangoutMeet Maleficent, the stunning and endangered Eastern Indigo. She is one of the most intelligent species of snakes, is non-venomous, and is very sweet and docile. Participants will get to learn about her unique ecosystem, discover what makes her species endangered, make their own arts project to take home, and even get the chance to hold/interact with Maleficent. Maleficent has a special surprise to show the class, too! Upon arrival at the program, participants must wash their hands.Gingerbread Plushy Ornament Sew your own mini plushy ornament to hang on a tree, car, or somewhere in your house. This craft is led by the Parks and Recreation team and is a cute, festive touch to bring to your home. Photo Credit: S&S WorldwideHomemade lip balmCreate your own lip balm to take home with support from the Parks and Recreation Staff. Our team will combine and melt ingredients, then work with you to pick scents out and assist with pouring the mixture into its tube. Each participant will get their own safari activity booklet to take home to continue the fun with the family. Dungeons and Dragons Multi-Generational Adventures: Join Parks and Recreation Clubhouse for our Dungeons and Dragons Adventures!We will provide the space - you provide the adventure! We are happy to be expanding our Holiday Festivities to span the whole season! From Luminary Decorating to Gift Wrapping, there is a program for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the main event: Our 26th Annual Holiday Celebration and Illumination Ceremony! We will be collecting non-perishable foods all season in our building. All goods will be donated to the Southbury Food bank. 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM    Cheerleading Rochambeau Rebels: Grades K-8 - Half Year Competition Cheerleading
The Rochambeau Rebels are dedicated to providing an affordable competitive cheerleading program to area youth. This program provides a balanced and sustainable approach to youth cheerleading recognizing the needs of the athletes and their families. They are committed to excellence, creativity, and integrity that goes beyond the cheer mat. The Rochambeau Rebels season will run from August through March. The Rebels will practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Southbury Parks and Recreation. Each practice will be 1.5 hours long. The younger squad will practice from 5:30pm- 7:00pm, and the older squad practice time will be 7:00pm-8:30pm. Age group split depends on registered participants. There will be no practices on weekends and no mandatory parent volunteer hours. The Rebels will not do regular sideline cheering for any sport. Competitive cheer skill building will be the only focus.All registered athletes will need to buy their own cheerleading sneakers for competitions. Any cheer shoes can be used for practices. The Parks & Rec Clubhouse provides a space to meet and make new friends through specialized activities for various ages. Participate in different & unique activities while our staff helps guide you through your adventures. And the best part is that we clean up the mess!Our activities range from seasonal activities, science/learning activities, sensory learning and other messy crafts & activities!Eastern Indigo HangoutMeet Maleficent, the stunning and endangered Eastern Indigo. She is one of the most intelligent species of snakes, is non-venomous, and is very sweet and docile. Participants will get to learn about her unique ecosystem, discover what makes her species endangered, make their own arts project to take home, and even get the chance to hold/interact with Maleficent. Maleficent has a special surprise to show the class, too! Upon arrival at the program, participants must wash their hands.Gingerbread Plushy Ornament Sew your own mini plushy ornament to hang on a tree, car, or somewhere in your house. Participants will decorate a safari hat, go on a safari scavenger hunt, and make an animal scene with foil stickers. Each participant will get their own safari activity booklet to take home to continue the fun with the family. Dungeons and Dragons Multi-Generational Adventures: Join Parks and Recreation Clubhouse for our Dungeons and Dragons Adventures!We will provide the space - you provide the adventure! Emotive music drives the experience as your breathe and sweat through this choreographed workout. Centergy is a great stand-alone workout for stretching and working on balance and strength, or exercisers might treat it as recovery from more physically demanding sports, such as running. All you need to bring is a Yoga mat and water.      IS CENTERGY FOR ME? Group Centergy is truly for everyone, removing barriers of age, gender, and fitness background. The consistent format of the program makes it easy for everyone to achieve success, master techniques over time, and return for more. We are happy to be expanding our Holiday Festivities to span the whole season! From Luminary Decorating to Gift Wrapping, there is a program for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the main event: Our 26th Annual Holiday Celebration and Illumination Ceremony! We will be collecting non-perishable foods all season in our building. All goods will be donated to the Southbury Food bank. A list of their critical needs can be found here. NEW FREE PROGRAM: Holiday Gift Wrap WorkshopYou bring the presents - we provide the wrapping supplies! There will be paper, scissors, tape, ribbon, and small gift tags with large tables to work on. You can wrap the gifts yourself or get help from a member of our team. If you just want help and had a specific type of paper in mind, you are welcome to bring your own supplies. Participants will have a table to work on but may be asked to share supplies like tape. 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM    Cheerleading Rochambeau Rebels: Grades K-8 - Half Year Competition Cheerleading
The Rochambeau Rebels are dedicated to providing an affordable competitive cheerleading program to area youth. This program provides a balanced and sustainable approach to youth cheerleading recognizing the needs of the athletes and their families. They are committed to excellence, creativity, and integrity that goes beyond the cheer mat. The Rochambeau Rebels season will run from August through March. The Rebels will practice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Southbury Parks and Recreation. Each practice will be 1.5 hours long. The younger squad will practice from 5:30pm- 7:00pm, and the older squad practice time will be 7:00pm-8:30pm. Age group split depends on registered participants. There will be no practices on weekends and no mandatory parent volunteer hours. The Rebels will not do regular sideline cheering for any sport. Competitive cheer skill building will be the only focus.All registered athletes will need to buy their own cheerleading sneakers for competitions. Any cheer shoes can be used for practices. At the Grow Together Play Club, unstructured time proves to be a powerful engine for development. When kids play freely, they're building essential life skills. Mixed-age environments naturally encourage social growth, teaching kids cooperation, empathy, and leadership as older children mentor younger ones. Self-directed activities sharpen problem-solving and critical thinking while boosting creativity and imagination. Crucially, it develops the independence to make decisions and learn emotional regulation in a low-stress setting. Ultimately, "just playing" is how your children learn to be resilient, confident, and successful friends.Please sign up for the mailing list for direct information about all upcoming programs. Different weeks will have different group sizes, so please register as soon as you can - registration is limited!Program location may vary, information will be updated as it becomes available.
