Spring Extravaganza: All Ages!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Southbury Parks and Recreation's 'Spring Egg Hunt' is now enhanced and revamped to the 'Spring Extravaganza'! It will be held in a NEW LOCATION and DIFFERENT TIME. See details below.  

Join us on Saturday, March 23rd for our inclusive special event: The Spring Extravaganza! 
Sensory-friendly activities will take place between 10 am and 11 am, with general admission from 11 am to 2 pm.

Activities taking place:

     -Candy Hunt separated by ages: 4 and under and 5 and up (traditional candy-filled eggs and bagged kosher candies placed out for children to collect)
          -Candy Hunt Times (arrive 10 minutes before the time):  
               -11:30am SHARP
               -12:30pm SHARP
               -1:30pm SHARP
     -Spring and Holiday themed crafts
     -Educational Information booths
     -Decorated spring scenes for photo opportunities with a bunny and our photo booth with props
     -Non-perishable food collection for the Southbury Food Bank


What to bring:
Participants are requested to bring a non-perishable food item for the Southbury Food Bank. See their current list of critical needs here
Come with your basket or bag to hold your goodies from the Candy Hunt and crafts! 

Location: 
Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building at 561 Main Street South. The Candy Hunt will take place next door, staff will be available to direct you.

Saturday, March 23, 2024 (Rain or shine)

Times:
10:00 am to 11:00 am:
 
Sensory-friendly activities and candy hunts for those who require accommodations will be inside the Parks and Recreation/ Senior Center Building, including the Candy Hunt.
NOTE: The final sensory-friendly Spring Hunt will be ongoing during this time. 

11:00 am to 1:45 pm:
 
Activities inside the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building will include games, activities, and crafts. The Candy Hunt will take place on the field behind Pomperaug Elementary School, weather permitting. (The Candy Hunt may be moved inside the Pomperaug Elementary School gym in case of inclement weather.)
Candy Hunt Times (arrive 10 minutes before): 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm SHARP!
NOTE: The last entry into the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building will be at 1:45 pm with all activities wrapping up at 2:00 pm.


Parking: Patrons may park at one of several locations: Parks and Recreation/Senior Center parking lot, Town Hall lower and upper parking lot, Rochambeau Middle School parking lot and/or Pomperaug Elementary School parking lot. There will be a designated handicapped parking and drop-off area for people with accessibility needs in front of the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building monitored by our staff.
