Spring Extravaganza: All Ages! Register View Cart

Join us on Saturday, April 5th for our inclusive special event: The Spring Extravaganza! 

Activities taking place:

     -Sensory-friendly activities, including a modified Candy Scramble, will occur throughout the event in a special accommodations area on the Senior Center Side of the building.    
     -Candy Scramble (traditional candy-filled eggs and capsules placed out for children to collect) separated into two age groups: children under 4 and children 5 and up. See below for start times.
     -Spring and Holiday themed crafts
     -Educational Information booths
     -Decorated spring scenes for photo opportunities with LIVE animals and our photo booth with props
     -Non-perishable food collection for the Southbury Food Bank


Spring extravaganza
What to bring:
Participants are requested to bring a non-perishable food item for the Southbury Food Bank. See their current list of critical needs here
Come with your basket or bag to hold your goodies from the Candy Scramble and Crafts! 

Location: 
Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building at 561 Main Street South. The Candy Scramble will take place next door, at Pomperaug Elementary School, a staff member will be available to direct you. 

Date:
Saturday, April 5, 2025 (Rain or shine)

Times:
Crafts and activities: 9:30am-11:30am 
Candy Scramble Times (arrive up to 10 minutes before):
10:00am and 11:00am SHARP!
Sensory friendly Scramble at 10:30am - participation by sign up only, please check in with staff upon arrival

NOTE: The last entry into the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building will be at 11:15am with all activities wrapping up at 11:30am.

NEW this year: Before you leave, find our capsule return station and leave your containers for us to reuse next time! All who leave capsules (keep that candy!) will be entered into a drawing for a free Parks and Recreation Clubhouse program. Don’t have time before you leave? Bring your empty capsules to the Parks and Recreation main office through April 24th, winner will be notified April 25th.

Parking:
Patrons may park at one of several locations: Parks and Recreation/Senior Center parking lot, Town Hall lower and upper parking lot, or Pomperaug Elementary School parking lot. There will be a designated handicapped parking and drop-off area for people with accessibility needs on the Senior Center Parking lot side monitored by our staff.
