Welcome to Pomperaug Youth Field Hockey Programs & Clinics!

FALL:
Join us for an exciting Field Hockey clinic from September 18 - October 23 sponsored by Pomperaug Youth Field Hockey, running Thursdays from 5:00pm to 6:15pm. This clinic is perfect for young athletes from Kindergarten to 7th graders looking to enhance their skills and have fun! 

The clinic highlights include skill development sessions led by experienced coaches, fun games and drills to enhance teamwork and strategy, individual feedback to help each player improve, and the opportunity to meet and make friends with fellow young athletes. Here’s what you need to know:
  1. Skill Development: We focus on fundamental skills like dribbling, passing, shooting, and game strategies while playing fun games to engage athletes on all levels. Each day  is designed to cater to different skill levels, ensuring personalized instruction and growth for every player throughout the week.
  2. Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Field hockey is all about teamwork. We emphasize communication, cooperation, and respect, helping players understand the importance of being a supportive team member both on and off the field.
  3. Fun and Fitness: Our practices are engaging and enjoyable, incorporating games and activities that keep players motivated. Fitness is a natural part of the program, helping players build strength, agility, and endurance in a fun environment.
  4. Experienced Coaches: Our dedicated coaching staff, including Darren Smallhorn (Former US National Team Athlete and former D1 collegiate coach), and DELTA Field Hockey's staff, are partnering with the Pomperaug High School Field Hockey team to provide these opportunities for youth players. Everyone is committed to creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere where players of all abilities can thrive and have fun.
Each day ALL participants will need to bring their own equipment including:
  • Mouthguard,
  • Field hockey stick
  • Shinguards
  • Turf shoes/sneakers (no cleats)
  • Waterbottles (Snacks for the young ones)
  • Practice Pinnie

Also All participants must Fill out a fall DELTA waiver for matches:http://deltafieldhockey.leagueapps.com/events/4674546-fall-2025-delta-youth-programs-general-waivers

Please note, we recommend purchasing equipment from local store Northeast Sporting Goods (www.northeastsportinggoods.net) instead of online retailers like Amazon or DICK's Sporting Goods. Sticks and other gear will be available for purchase at the camp. If you're new to field hockey not sure what to purchase, don't worry—we will have sticks available to borrow for the first day and longer if necessary.
