3:00 PM - 3:45 PM    Parks & Rec Clubhouse (Ages 3 & up) - Tie Dye Lab!
The Parks & Rec Clubhouse provides a space to meet and make new friends through specialized activities for various ages. Participate in different & unique activities while our staff helps guide you through your adventures. And the best part is that we clean up the mess!These programs will be held at 561 Main Street South in Southbury, CT in the Parks & Recreation Building- Multipurpose Room.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________SLIME LAB (Ages 5 & up)All participants will be able to make 2 different types of slime to take home. Participants can add scents, colors, charms and/or little pieces of decor.  Tie Dye Lab (Ages 3 & up) All participants will be able to make a tie-dye shirt to take home. We provide the shirt and all materials. Children ages 3-6 must have a parent/guardian on-site with them to help with the shirt folds and assist with dying. Our instructors will demonstrate different ways to fold a shirt and provide assistance when applicable. Participants will get to take home their tie dye shirt in a bag, with instructions on washing.  Please come dressed down (in clothes to get messy). If you get tie-dye on your clothes or shoes, it will stain! In order to serve you better, Southbury Parks and Recreation's programs are subject to change. Registration will open on 3/1/24 for non-residentsFor a complete schedule of important registration and fee dates, find the Registration & Fees Calendar Link below.Adventure Day Campers will enjoy days full of exciting sports and games, creative art projects, exciting field trips, swim lessons, and fun in the sun. Adventure Day Camp (ADC) is held Monday-Friday from 8 am to 3:30 pm, with scheduled field trips on Thursdays every week (excluding pre-camp and week 2). Each camp week will be creatively themed and scheduled by our camp staff with age-appropriate activities and special events designed to give campers the most fun and memorable summer camp experience possible. Adventure Day Camp (ADC) offers daily swim lessons/camp-designated pool time as part of your child’s experience! ADC will be outdoors daily at Ballantine Park Pavilion (weather permitting). Campers will be split into age-appropriate groups determined by the school grade they are entering and will participate in their daily activities within those age groups.NOTE: During select weeks, such as Survivor Week, all groups may be mixed throughout the day.  Adventure Day Camp also offers an after-camp option. (Which is more money saved, than the early bird rate).-The Southbury Resident additional child discount will be applied at check out, for those who qualify, for all Summer Camp options, including the all summer packages.  ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Camp Schedule & Weekly Themes PRE-CAMP: Adventure Day Camp & The Thrills of Harry Potter | 6/17-6/21 - register by 6/3Calling all muggles and would-be wizards and witches. An Owl Post has arrived with mention of bringing the wizarding world to the muggle world! Campers will be sorted into their house: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin. During the week, campers will gain a wand, have Quidditch Practice, and attend classes featured in the Harry Potter series, including potions class and magical beasts! On Friday, a game of Quidditch will commence. The winning team will take home the Quidditch Cup, and all campers will celebrate with Hogsmade's famous Butterbeer. NOTICE: Pre-Camp is -NOT- included in the all-summer package. Attendance at this camp will be registered separately. Swim lessons for campers will not take place during pre-camp. However, campers will still have access to pool time (weather permitting). ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Week 1: Color Wars | 6/24-6/28 – register by 6/10Bring your team spirit to kick off the camp session filled with competition and fun. Color Wars is a camp tradition where campers will combine into groups with a designated color and utilize different skills and techniques for different activities throughout the week. Color Wars’ concept stresses the importance of sportsmanship, spirit, and camaraderie. Teams will have different themes, banners, team chants, costumes, and even a talent show. Teams will score points and at the end of the week, one team will be awarded the Camp Champion.Week 2: Marvel & Superheroes | 7/1-7/3 (no camp 7/4-7/5) – register by 6/17Campers will dress as their favorite superhero and attend our own Superhero Training Academy. This shortened week will be packed full of training and activities concluding with a Superhero Graduation Ceremony for all of our campers. Keep your eyes peeled for the super-villain!During Week 2, the camp will be open on Friday, July 5 from 8am-3:30pm (with no after camp option). This additional option is available for registration (separately from the week 2 option). Week 3: Survivor Week | 7/8-7/12 – register by 6/24Do you dare to try a week filled with challenges, obstacles, and puzzles modeled after the original TV completion challenge game: Survivor?? Campers will be divided into groups this week and have to work with their "tribe" to earn points each day. Challenges and activities will resemble some from the show. One challenge will include each tribe making their cardboard boat, to hold their camp counselor in. The camp counselors then have to race these boats in the pool, and whoever places first will win their team points. This is just one of many challenges campers will face this week and at the end of the week the tribe with the highest points will be named "Adventure Day Camp - Tribe Survivor." Week 4: Disney vs. Nickelodeon | 7/15-7/19 – register by 7/1Adventure Day Camp will have a week filled with all things Disney & Nickelodeon! Campers will play a variety of games that are Disney & Nickelodeon-themed. Campers will share their favorite characters from Disney and/or Nickelodeon and discover new ones. Campers should also keep their eyes peeled for "hidden rubber ducks" all week at camp; inspired by the "hidden Mickeys" in the Disney Parks. Week 5: Barbie Dream House & The Mojo Dojo Casa House | 7/22-7/26 – register by 7/8Discover a world of make-believe and a place where campers can be who they want to be. Campers will get to design and decorate Ballantine Park into their version of dollhouses (Barbie Dream House and the Mojo Dojo Casa House). During the week campers will explore their likes and dislikes, share their plans for the future, and end the week in a camp-wide fashion show.  Week 6: The Jungle Book | 7/29-8/2 – register by 7/15 During the last week of camp, campers will go on a variety of jungle adventures. Campers will have the opportunity to design a hat, go on expeditions, and get close to a real snake and many more animals! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Weather Related Communication Information In the event of heavy rain, storms, and/or a heat advisory, Adventure Day Camp will be held indoors at a location to be determined (the location will be at a Region 15 school or Town of Southbury building). Parents will be notified of a location change due to weather via e-mail and the Remind Education app/website. Alerts of updates and location changes will be posted on this website, with a “red alert” bar on the top of the page. Parents are encouraged to download the Remind Education app on their phones and join the Adventure Day Camp class to receive the most up-to-date reminders and notifications for camp.
