Welcome to Pomperaug Youth Field Hockey Programs & Clinics!SPRING:The spring field hockey program is designed to enhance skills, foster teamwork, and ignite a passion for the game. Boys and girls are welcome to join us. 1st-7th grades. Here’s what you need to know: Skill Development: We focus on fundamental skills like dribbling, passing, shooting, and game strategies. Each practice is designed to cater to different skill levels, ensuring personalized instruction and growth for every player. Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Field hockey is all about teamwork. We emphasize communication, cooperation, and respect, helping players understand the importance of being a supportive team member both on and off the field. Fun and Fitness: Our practices are engaging and enjoyable, incorporating games and activities that keep players motivated. Fitness is a natural part of the program, helping players build strength, agility, and endurance in a fun environment. Experienced Coaches: Our dedicated coaching staff brings a wealth of knowledge and a positive attitude to each practice. Darren Smallhorn (Former US National Team Athlete, former D1 collegiate coach and Owner of DELTA field hockey), Jess Reed Roach (Former D1 & D3 Collegiate Coach) and DELTA Field Hockey's staff are partnering with the Pomperaug High School Field Hockey team to provide these opportunities for youth players. Everyone is committed to creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere where players of all abilities and experiences can thrive and have fun. Season Structure: The season will consist of 6 weekly practices at Settlers Park Age-Appropriate Training: Our program is structured to suit various age groups and skill levels, providing appropriate challenges and learning opportunities for each player. Family Involvement: We value family support and involvement. If you’re interested in coaching or game-day organization, please reach out. We will keep you updated on your child’s progress and upcoming events to ensure you’re always in the loop. Once registered, please download the GameChanger App which we will be using for updates and regular communications. Equipment:All participants will need their own field hockey stick, mouth guard, and shin guards. We will have some sticks for new players who are just trying out the sport to borrow during the program. For those interested in purchasing a stick (or other field hockey equipment such as mouth guards and shin guards) we recommend checking out this new local field hockey store: www.northeastsportinggoods.net  We look forward to an exciting season filled with growth, teamwork, and plenty of field hockey fun! This camp is perfect for young athletes rising into Kindergarten to rising 9th graders looking to enhance their skills and have fun! The cost is $150, and each participant will receive a camp shirt/pinnie.The camp highlights include skill development sessions led by experienced coaches, fun games and drills to enhance teamwork and strategy, individual feedback to help each player improve, and the opportunity to meet and make friends with fellow young athletes. Here’s what you need to know: Skill Development: We focus on fundamental skills like dribbling, passing, shooting, and game strategies while playing fun games to engage athletes on all levels. Each day  is designed to cater to different skill levels, ensuring personalized instruction and growth for every player throughout the week. Sticks and other gear will be available for purchase at the camp.
