8:30 AM - 3:30 PM    CIT Program: Rising Grades 8-12 - SPARK Camp assistance Week 1
Counselor-In-Training (CIT) is a program for students in Grades 8-12 who enjoy spending time with children and want to help the community while learning leadership skills. CITs are expected at camp between the hours of 8:30am-3:30pm daily for their registered week(s). Participants will partake in all camp activities, have the opportunity to lead craft/activity stations, and engage in weekly leadership training and meetings with the Camp Leadership Staff.The CIT Application Process: 1. Review the CIT Guidebook with a parent/guardian. 2. Fill out the application form. 3. Submit a reference letter from a coach, teacher, or principal. 4. Application and reference letter must be received by Meghan Lennon, Parks and Recreation Director, by Monday, March 9, 2026, in one of the following ways: -Via e-mail in an attachment to: mlennon@southbury-ct.gov. -Mailed to Parks and Recreation Office. -Hand deliver the application packet to the Parks and Recreation Office. 5. Once the application is received, candidates will be contacted for an interview. 6. BEFORE your interview, register for the waiting list below for each week you are interested in. The registration says "This Activity Full," but once you log in there will be an option to “add to wait list”. A member of the office will contact you to complete payment should you be accepted into the program. NOTE: joining the wait list is not a guarantee you will be selected for that particular week, even if you are accepted into the program. This wait list will organize CIT interest to help determine which five candidates will be assigned to each week. 7. Successful candidates will receive an offer letter. 8. Successful candidates must then confirm the training dates and meetings listed in the offer letter. 9. Office staff will reach out to complete payment and confirm weeks of attendance.Payment needs to be completed by Monday, April 20, 2026.Any application packets submitted after March 9, 2026, will not be accepted. In June we are offering a new enrichment camp through SPARK Business Academy. SPARK camp will run from 9:00am-3:00pm at Ballantine Park with Before and After camp add-on options. In July and August we will be offering our traditional Adventure Day Camp (ADC) at Ballantine Park from 8:30am-4:00pm, with Before and After camp add-on's. The pick-up and drop off locations will be the same for each camp, but the staffing and structure will be different. Both camps offer a sibling discount of $25 off at checkout for Southbury residents!SPARK Business Academy builds real-life skills kids can use now — from money confidence to problem-solving — through hands-on, project-based learning. Children will leave with plans or portfolios they can explain and be proud of. The camp will still have built in play time and games, but each day has purposeful, structured learning. SPARK camp will be led by school professionals, with the exception of the lunch and swim time break at noon, when ADC counselors will bring the campers to Ballantine Pool for their swim lessons and pool time. Other related topics will be discussed such as counting currency, budgeting, profit margins, buying and selling, and assessing the quality of goods. SPARK Enrichment Camp Week Two Monday 6/29 - Thursday 7/2, 9:00am-3:00pm: "Build a Biz":In this empowering program, campers apply their personal skills and interests toward being an entrepreneur! Campers will brainstorm their own business ideas based on personal interests, design marketing materials including business cards and flyers, then determine pricing needed to make a profit. Students have fun while developing business savvy and will wrap up the week launching their businesses at an event to raise money for a charity they select! *there is no camp Friday July 3rd* _____________________________________________________________Adventure Day Camp (ADC) - July 6th - August 14th, Mon - Fri, 8:30am-4:00pm Adventure Day Campers will enjoy days full of sports and games, creative art projects, swim lessons, and fun in the sun. ADC will have entertainers on Tuesdays (such as Mini-Golf and Laser tag vendors) and scheduled field trips on Thursdays, (such as Quassy and the CT Science Center). Each camp week will be creatively themed and planned by our camp staff with age-appropriate activities and special events designed to give campers the most fun and memorable summer camp experience possible. ADC offers weekly swim lessons and camp-designated pool time as part of your child’s experience (weather permitting)! Campers will be split into age-appropriate groups determined by the school grade they are entering and will participate in their daily activities within those age groups.NOTE: During select weeks all groups may be mixed throughout the day.  ADC is offering an Early Bird discount of $25 off for all registrations received by 2/28/26! Play our Star Wars themed laser tag on 7/14 with Laser Tag on the Go!Week 3: Party in the USA | 7/20 - 7/24 - Field trip to Quassy on 7/23This will be a week filled with flag-flying fun as we celebrate America's 250th birthday with all the classic red, white and blue spirit! Week 4: Splish Splash! 7/27 - 7/31 -  Field trip to Lessard Lanes (bowling) on 7/30Dive into summer fun with a week filled with water-themed activities. Campers will enjoy activities such as water balloon games and water gun painting.Week 5: Hawaiian Hullabaloo 8/3 - 8/7 Field Trip TBDLeis, grass skirts, and Hawaiian shirts encouraged! Get ready to do the limbo, create a surfboard, make a seashell necklace, and learn a different Hawaiian word each day. FULL Week 6: Wacky & Wonderful | 8/10 - 8/14  Field trip to Urban Air on 8/13Sometimes the best memories are made when we embrace our silly sides and do what we feel like at the moment! The last week of camp will be about embracing spontaneity, trying new things, and making memories without expectations. Parents are encouraged to download the Remind Education app on their phones and join the Adventure Day Camp class to receive the most up-to-date reminders and notifications for camp. Counselor-In-Training (CIT) is a program for students in Grades 8-12 who enjoy spending time with children and want to help the community while learning leadership skills. CITs are expected at camp between the hours of 8:30am-3:30pm daily for their registered week(s). Participants will partake in all camp activities, have the opportunity to lead craft/activity stations, and engage in weekly leadership training and meetings with the Camp Leadership Staff.The CIT Application Process: 1. Review the CIT Guidebook with a parent/guardian. 2. Fill out the application form. 3. Submit a reference letter from a coach, teacher, or principal. 4. Application and reference letter must be received by Meghan Lennon, Parks and Recreation Director, by Monday, March 9, 2026, in one of the following ways: -Via e-mail in an attachment to: mlennon@southbury-ct.gov. -Mailed to Parks and Recreation Office. -Hand deliver the application packet to the Parks and Recreation Office. 5. Once the application is received, candidates will be contacted for an interview. 6. BEFORE your interview, register for the waiting list below for each week you are interested in. The registration says "This Activity Full," but once you log in there will be an option to “add to wait list”. A member of the office will contact you to complete payment should you be accepted into the program. NOTE: joining the wait list is not a guarantee you will be selected for that particular week, even if you are accepted into the program. This wait list will organize CIT interest to help determine which five candidates will be assigned to each week. 7. Successful candidates will receive an offer letter. 8. In June we are offering a new enrichment camp through SPARK Business Academy. SPARK camp will run from 9:00am-3:00pm at Ballantine Park with Before and After camp add-on options. In July and August we will be offering our traditional Adventure Day Camp (ADC) at Ballantine Park from 8:30am-4:00pm, with Before and After camp add-on's. The pick-up and drop off locations will be the same for each camp, but the staffing and structure will be different. Both camps offer a sibling discount of $25 off at checkout for Southbury residents!SPARK Business Academy builds real-life skills kids can use now — from money confidence to problem-solving — through hands-on, project-based learning. Children will leave with plans or portfolios they can explain and be proud of. The camp will still have built in play time and games, but each day has purposeful, structured learning. SPARK camp will be led by school professionals, with the exception of the lunch and swim time break at noon, when ADC counselors will bring the campers to Ballantine Pool for their swim lessons and pool time.
