Parks & Rec Clubhouse Activities - FREE Pollinator Pathway Garden Journaling Workshop
The Parks & Rec Clubhouse provides a space to meet and make new friends through specialized activities for various ages. Participate in different & unique activities while our staff helps guide you through your adventures. And the best part is that we clean up the mess!Our activities range from seasonal activities, science/learning activities, sensory learning and other messy crafts & activities!FREE WORKSHOP (Ages 8 and up):Celebrate National Pollinator Week with the Southbury Garden Club!June 22 & 29: Join us for a CT Pollinator Pathway Garden Journaling Workshop, a unique and creative experience that blends art, observation, and outdoor exploration to deepen your understanding of native plants and pollinators. What to Expect:Classroom Session Sunday 6/22 – Each participant will receive a brand-new sketchbook and engage in a series of guided, hands-on art projects. Learn how to draw, color, and label flowers, butterflies, bees, birds, and other vital pollinators. We'll also discuss respectful ways to identify and observe nature while honing your sketching skills. Session held at in Parks and Recreation's multi-purpose room. Outdoor Field Session Sunday 6/29 – Take your learning into nature at Settlers Park Community Garden! With sketchbooks in hand, participants will explore, observe, and illustrate real-life pollinators in action. Experienced Southbury Garden Club members will be on-site to offer guidance, answer questions, and share their knowledge about local pollinator-friendly plants.This interactive workshop is perfect for nature lovers, aspiring artists, and anyone interested in supporting our local ecosystem. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with nature, enhance your artistic skills, and celebrate the importance of pollinators! Ages 8 and up. All materials provided. Advance registration required. The following summer 2025 program offerings require parent/guardian supervision!Family Game Night: We will provide the space - you provide the energy! Southbury Parks and Recreation will provide game supplies, tables, and chairs. All Families/Groups will be responsible for running their own games - we will clean up the mess! If you are hoping to play a game with more participants, please invite your friends to sign up and join us! Program will run with any registration volume: you may be the only family at a particular night, staff will check you in but will not run programming, be prepared to run your own games. You are welcome to bring your own games as well! Think of this program as a play date where no one has to clean their house before the fun (or clean up after it!).
Inflatable water slide: Nothing says summer than an outdoor water slide! Dress in your bathing suit, bring a towel and a smiling face!
Sensory Lab: start your morning relaxed through sensory play, with different toys, tools and textures! This lab is not only fun, but it is therapeutic!
Paint water gun: it's time to get MESSY! Experience a water gun fun like never before, with some washable paint added! Come dressed down, and even a white shirt, and bring a towel! Paint is washable, and a hose to rinse off will be on site.
Tie Dye Lab: bring a white shirt or article of clothing and we provide the dye! We will help you create a fold design, apply the color and you get to start the summer off with a beautiful tie dye shirt to wear!
Color wars: get messy with color powder, while playing a competitive round robin game! whoever gets more powder on the opposing team advances to the next round!
