Pomperaug Youth Field Hockey Presents: FUNdamentals of Field Hockey Grades: K-8 - Spring Field Hockey Presented by DELTA Field Hockey Welcome to Pomperaug Youth Field Hockey Programs & Clinics!SPRING:DETLA Field Hockey returns with their weekly spring clinic running on Thursdays from April 23rd through May 28th. Clinic is for player in grades K-8 both experienced and new to the sport. Program will be held at Settlers Park: 280 Crook Horn Rd, Southbury from 5:00pm-6:00pm.SUMMER:Join DELTA Field Hockey for an exciting Camp from June 22-25th sponsored by Pomperaug Youth Field Hockey, running daily from 9:00am-12:00pm, with a rain date on the 26th. This camp is perfect for young athletes rising into Kindergarten to rising 9th graders looking to enhance their skills and have fun! Each participant will receive a camp shirt/pinnie. The camp will be held at Pomperaug High School: 234 Judd Rd, Southbury.Clinic and camp highlights include skill development sessions led by experienced coaches, fun games and drills to enhance teamwork and strategy, individual feedback to help each player improve, and the opportunity to meet and make friends with fellow young athletes. Here’s what you need to know: Skill Development: We focus on fundamental skills like dribbling, passing, shooting, and game strategies while playing fun games to engage athletes on all levels. Each day is designed to cater to different skill levels, ensuring personalized instruction and growth for every player throughout the week. Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Field hockey is all about teamwork. We emphasize communication, cooperation, and respect, helping players understand the importance of being a supportive team member both on and off the field. Fun and Fitness: Our practices are engaging and enjoyable, incorporating games and activities that keep players motivated. Fitness is a natural part of the program, helping players build strength, agility, and endurance in a fun environment. Experienced Coaches: Our dedicated coaching staff, including Darren Smallhorn (Former US National Team Athlete and former D1 collegiate coach), and DELTA Field Hockey's staff, are partnering with the Pomperaug High School Field Hockey team to provide these opportunities for youth players. Everyone is committed to creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere where players of all abilities can thrive and have fun. Each day ALL participants will need to bring their own equipment including: Mouth guard, Field hockey stick Shin guards Turf shoes/sneakers (no cleats) Water bottles (Snacks for the young ones) Please note, we recommend purchasing equipment from local store Northeast Sporting Goods (www.northeastsportinggoods.net) instead of online retailers. Sticks and other gear will be available for purchase at the camp. If you're new to field hockey not sure what to purchase, don't worry — we will have sticks available to borrow for the first day and longer if necessary. Pomperaug Youth Field Hockey Presents: FUNdamentals of Field Hockey Grades: K-8 - Spring Field Hockey Presented by DELTA Field Hockey Welcome to Pomperaug Youth Field Hockey Programs & Clinics!SPRING:DETLA Field Hockey returns with their weekly spring clinic running on Thursdays from April 23rd through May 28th. Clinic is for player in grades K-8 both experienced and new to the sport. Program will be held at Settlers Park: 280 Crook Horn Rd, Southbury from 5:00pm-6:00pm.SUMMER:Join DELTA Field Hockey for an exciting Camp from June 22-25th sponsored by Pomperaug Youth Field Hockey, running daily from 9:00am-12:00pm, with a rain date on the 26th. This camp is perfect for young athletes rising into Kindergarten to rising 9th graders looking to enhance their skills and have fun! Each participant will receive a camp shirt/pinnie. The camp will be held at Pomperaug High School: 234 Judd Rd, Southbury.Clinic and camp highlights include skill development sessions led by experienced coaches, fun games and drills to enhance teamwork and strategy, individual feedback to help each player improve, and the opportunity to meet and make friends with fellow young athletes. Here’s what you need to know: Skill Development: We focus on fundamental skills like dribbling, passing, shooting, and game strategies while playing fun games to engage athletes on all levels. Each day is designed to cater to different skill levels, ensuring personalized instruction and growth for every player throughout the week. Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Field hockey is all about teamwork. We emphasize communication, cooperation, and respect, helping players understand the importance of being a supportive team member both on and off the field. Fun and Fitness: Our practices are engaging and enjoyable, incorporating games and activities that keep players motivated. Fitness is a natural part of the program, helping players build strength, agility, and endurance in a fun environment. Experienced Coaches: Our dedicated coaching staff, including Darren Smallhorn (Former US National Team Athlete and former D1 collegiate coach), and DELTA Field Hockey's staff, are partnering with the Pomperaug High School Field Hockey team to provide these opportunities for youth players. Everyone is committed to creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere where players of all abilities can thrive and have fun. Each day ALL participants will need to bring their own equipment including: Mouth guard, Field hockey stick Shin guards Turf shoes/sneakers (no cleats) Water bottles (Snacks for the young ones) Please note, we recommend purchasing equipment from local store Northeast Sporting Goods (www.northeastsportinggoods.net) instead of online retailers. Sticks and other gear will be available for purchase at the camp. If you're new to field hockey not sure what to purchase, don't worry — we will have sticks available to borrow for the first day and longer if necessary.
