Summer Sharks Swim Team: Ages 6-16 - Sharks Swim Team Be part of one of State Line Swim League’s most fun and successful teams! The Summer Sharks emphasize participation, teamwork, training and fun while teaching swim skills and technique in a relaxed atmosphere. Members have the chance to be on a team, compete for their best times in dual meets, and take part in a fun end of season swim. Swimmers between the ages of 6 and 16 are eligible to sign up. Participants should be able to swim one lap of freestyle and one lap of backstroke. All participants will receive a team t-shirt. Be sure to note your swimmer’s tee shirt size where indicated during registration. The season begins with the the first practice on Monday June 17th. There will not be practice on July 4th. PRACTICE INFORMATION IS AS FOLLOWS: Location: Southbury Town Pool at Ballantine Park, 611 Old Field Road, Southbury. 7:30 - 8:45 AM 11 & Older Swimmers 8:45 – 9:45 AM 10 & Under Swimmers Practice will take place in the rain, provided there is no thunder or lightning. Notification of canceled practice will be posted as an alert on the Parks & Recreation MyRec homepage. Sharks Swim Team Fee covers all practices, meets, and a team tee shirt. Each camp week will be creatively themed and scheduled by our camp staff with age-appropriate activities and special events designed to give campers the most fun and memorable summer camp experience possible. Teams will score points and at the end of the week, one team will be awarded the Camp Champion.Week 2: Marvel & Superheroes | 7/1-7/3 (no camp 7/4-7/5) – register by 6/17Campers will dress as their favorite superhero and attend our own Superhero Training Academy. This shortened week will be packed full of training and activities concluding with a Superhero Graduation Ceremony for all of our campers. Week 3: Survivor Week | 7/8-7/12 – register by 6/24Do you dare to try a week filled with challenges, obstacles, and puzzles modeled after the original TV completion challenge game: Survivor?? Campers will be divided into groups this week and have to work with their "tribe" to earn points each day. Challenges and activities will resemble some from the show. One challenge will include each tribe making their cardboard boat, to hold their camp counselor in. The camp counselors then have to race these boats in the pool, and whoever places first will win their team points. This is just one of many challenges campers will face this week and at the end of the week the tribe with the highest points will be named "Adventure Day Camp - Tribe Survivor." Week 4: Disney vs. Nickelodeon | 7/15-7/19 – register by 7/1Adventure Day Camp will have a week filled with all things Disney & Nickelodeon! Campers will play a variety of games that are Disney & Nickelodeon-themed. Campers will share their favorite characters from Disney and/or Nickelodeon and discover new ones. Campers should also keep their eyes peeled for "hidden rubber ducks" all week at camp; inspired by the "hidden Mickeys" in the Disney Parks. Week 5: Barbie Dream House & The Mojo Dojo Casa House | 7/22-7/26 – register by 7/8Discover a world of make-believe and a place where campers can be who they want to be. Horseback Riding by Brushy Hill Farm: All Ages - Horse Camp Week 1 Brushy Hill Farm Summer Riding Camp: The Summer Camp program welcomes riders of all ability levels. It includes a daily riding lesson, basic horsemanship, farm safety, grooming, horse care, and tacking up. There are lots of horse related games, contests, professional demonstrations, and prizes. Photographs will be taken. During the daily riding lesson beginner levels will have a 1 to 1 ratio with a leader while intermediate and advanced levels will have a 1 to 3 ratio. Our indoor facility allows camp to be held rain or shine. Orientation for parents will be held the Monday starting each camp week at 8:30am. We offer group and private yoga, Pilates, and strength training. Summer Sharks Swim Team: Ages 6-16 - Sharks Swim Team Be part of one of State Line Swim League’s most fun and successful teams! The Summer Sharks emphasize participation, teamwork, training and fun while teaching swim skills and technique in a relaxed atmosphere. Members have the chance to be on a team, compete for their best times in dual meets, and take part in a fun end of season swim. Swimmers between the ages of 6 and 16 are eligible to sign up. Participants should be able to swim one lap of freestyle and one lap of backstroke. All participants will receive a team t-shirt. Be sure to note your swimmer’s tee shirt size where indicated during registration. The season begins with the the first practice on Monday June 17th. There will not be practice on July 4th. PRACTICE INFORMATION IS AS FOLLOWS: Location: Southbury Town Pool at Ballantine Park, 611 Old Field Road, Southbury. 7:30 - 8:45 AM 11 & Older Swimmers 8:45 – 9:45 AM 10 & Under Swimmers Practice will take place in the rain, provided there is no thunder or lightning. Adventure Day Camp (ADC) is held Monday-Friday from 8 am to 3:30 pm, with scheduled field trips on Thursdays every week (excluding pre-camp and week 2). Each camp week will be creatively themed and scheduled by our camp staff with age-appropriate activities and special events designed to give campers the most fun and memorable summer camp experience possible. During the week, campers will gain a wand, have Quidditch Practice, and attend classes featured in the Harry Potter series, including potions class and magical beasts! On Friday, a game of Quidditch will commence. The winning team will take home the Quidditch Cup, and all campers will celebrate with Hogsmade's famous Butterbeer. NOTICE: Pre-Camp is -NOT- included in the all-summer package. Attendance at this camp will be registered separately. Swim lessons for campers will not take place during pre-camp. Color Wars’ concept stresses the importance of sportsmanship, spirit, and camaraderie. Teams will have different themes, banners, team chants, costumes, and even a talent show. Teams will score points and at the end of the week, one team will be awarded the Camp Champion.Week 2: Marvel & Superheroes | 7/1-7/3 (no camp 7/4-7/5) – register by 6/17Campers will dress as their favorite superhero and attend our own Superhero Training Academy. This shortened week will be packed full of training and activities concluding with a Superhero Graduation Ceremony for all of our campers. Keep your eyes peeled for the super-villain!During Week 2, the camp will be open on Friday, July 5 from 8am-3:30pm (with no after camp option). This additional option is available for registration (separately from the week 2 option). Week 3: Survivor Week | 7/8-7/12 – register by 6/24Do you dare to try a week filled with challenges, obstacles, and puzzles modeled after the original TV completion challenge game: Survivor?? Campers will be divided into groups this week and have to work with their "tribe" to earn points each day. Challenges and activities will resemble some from the show. One challenge will include each tribe making their cardboard boat, to hold their camp counselor in. The camp counselors then have to race these boats in the pool, and whoever places first will win their team points. This is just one of many challenges campers will face this week and at the end of the week the tribe with the highest points will be named "Adventure Day Camp - Tribe Survivor." Week 4: Disney vs. Nickelodeon | 7/15-7/19 – register by 7/1Adventure Day Camp will have a week filled with all things Disney & Nickelodeon! Campers will play a variety of games that are Disney & Nickelodeon-themed. Campers will share their favorite characters from Disney and/or Nickelodeon and discover new ones. Campers should also keep their eyes peeled for "hidden rubber ducks" all week at camp; inspired by the "hidden Mickeys" in the Disney Parks. Week 5: Barbie Dream House & The Mojo Dojo Casa House | 7/22-7/26 – register by 7/8Discover a world of make-believe and a place where campers can be who they want to be. Campers will get to design and decorate Ballantine Park into their version of dollhouses (Barbie Dream House and the Mojo Dojo Casa House). During the week campers will explore their likes and dislikes, share their plans for the future, and end the week in a camp-wide fashion show. Week 6: The Jungle Book | 7/29-8/2 – register by 7/15 During the last week of camp, campers will go on a variety of jungle adventures. Summer Sharks Swim Team: Ages 6-16 - Sharks Swim Team Be part of one of State Line Swim League’s most fun and successful teams! The Summer Sharks emphasize participation, teamwork, training and fun while teaching swim skills and technique in a relaxed atmosphere. Members have the chance to be on a team, compete for their best times in dual meets, and take part in a fun end of season swim. Swimmers between the ages of 6 and 16 are eligible to sign up. Participants should be able to swim one lap of freestyle and one lap of backstroke. All participants will receive a team t-shirt. Be sure to note your swimmer’s tee shirt size where indicated during registration. The season begins with the the first practice on Monday June 17th. There will not be practice on July 4th. Horseback Riding by Brushy Hill Farm: All Ages - Horse Camp Week 1 Brushy Hill Farm Summer Riding Camp: The Summer Camp program welcomes riders of all ability levels. It includes a daily riding lesson, basic horsemanship, farm safety, grooming, horse care, and tacking up. There are lots of horse related games, contests, professional demonstrations, and prizes. Photographs will be taken. During the daily riding lesson beginner levels will have a 1 to 1 ratio with a leader while intermediate and advanced levels will have a 1 to 3 ratio.
